David and Lisa Wilkinson
Lights, camera, action! David Wilkinson is no stranger to being the center of attention. For most of his adult life he has been in the public eye as a sports reporter in markets from Montgomery, Alabama, to Waco, Texas. After years of carpetbagging, David and his wife Lisa, a stay-at-home mom, are thrilled to be back in David’s hometown.
They have made Smyrna their home for the past year after David was offered his dream job as a sports anchor and reporter with NBC affiliate WXIA-TV. David and Lisa have been married nine years and are parents to the precocious Ella Grace (3), and their newest addition, 3-month-old Hannah Marie.
The Wilkinsons love the family-friendliness of Smyrna and the convenience of living close to just about everything. Taylor-Brawner Park, with its many events and great playground, is a huge draw for the young family.
David, the funny man in the family, is originally from Sandy Springs, and is thrilled to live close enough to easily take his family to sporting events. While he believes strongly in being a reporter and not a “supporter,” he admits there is something special about offering his children the same experiences he had as a kid.
The Wilkinsons have been enjoying showing off their newest daughter, Hannah, throughout Smyrna this Fall. Hannah came to the Wilkinsons through an adoption they both felt was led by God. After praying for a way to expand their family, they mutually came to the conclusion to adopt. Less than a year after starting the process, they were holding their new daughter in their arms! Big sister Ella Grace agrees it was a brilliant move and is elated to have a new addition in the family.
After working in three states across the country, the Wilkinsons have thoroughly enjoyed the chance to put down some roots in the Atlanta metro area. As a reporter, David had barely dared to dream about the possibility of working in his hometown. But when the opportunity presented itself, he was ecstatic. “It’s a dream come true to cover teams I grew up watching,” David proudly explains. “I couldn’t think of a better place to be.”
