It’s official: patio season is here. And Smyrna and Vinings are great places to spend these long, hot summer days. Whether you prefer to cool off with an ice cold beer, sip on a robust bourbon, or get down and dirty with a delicious burger, this area is full of options! Here are some of our favorites. (Just be sure to drink responsibly of course).
From Kentucky to Georgia, nothing says Friday night better than a good bourbon. The Public House at Vinings offers a wide array of drinks including American whiskeys and bourbons, single malt whiskeys and blends, and even wine on tap. Located inside the celebrated Hotel Indigo, The Public House at Vinings offers small plates, salads, and entrees all with a delicious Southern twist. Don’t miss their classic cocktails, of which Smoky Skyline and Rags and Riches are favorites.
Beer connoisseurs unite and join together by tasting the innovative offerings by the Stout Brothers at the Smyrna Beer Market. Samples are offered seven days a week, along with Growlers, locally made products, and merchandise. With no less than 39 options on tap and many more bottled selections, The Stout Brothers live up to their name. Make sure to try the Founders Sumatra Mountain Brown and the Three Taverns Rapturous, and the newest seasonal beer, New Belgium Heavy Melon.
Beer drinkers shouldn’t miss the extensive draft and bottle menu at Muss & Turner’s either. From classic brews (Dogfish Head Squall) to exciting concoctions (Jekyll Pineapple Habanero Hop Dang Diggity), finding a new favorite should not be a problem. Muss & Turner’s menu includes every beer imaginable, from Pale Ale to Pilsner, Stout to Cider, and there are several gluten-free options available as well. For a taste explosion, don’t miss the Boulder Shake Chocolate Porter.
Summertime isn’t complete without a juicy, grilled burger, and Grub Burger Bar – Cobb Galleria embraces that fact. Their burgers begin with freshly baked buns and a signature daily ground blend of brisket and chuck. Looking for a classic burger? Try the Front Porch. Want to get a little wild? Both the Lockhart Legend, with Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, housemade Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, and onion rings, and the Texas Luau, with braised pulled pork, grilled pineapple, jalapenos, and a teriyaki BBQ sauce, are alternative favorites. Don’t miss their handcrafted milkshakes…without or without the added “adult” kick.
Meehan’s Public House is another popular burger restaurant in Vinings with an Irish flair. Menu items highlight local ingredients and combine classic flavors. The Mason Dixie Burger is their most popular, with Bear Creek Dry Aged ground beef, pimento cheese, Applewood bacon, fried dill pickles, butter lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun. Try something different by adding a side of onion rings or sweet potato fries, or for a healthier option, the crispy Brussel sprouts.
So go ahead – spend some time exploring the city and find your new favorite bourbon, beer, or burger. What better way is there to while away a summer weekend?
