Best of Atlanta Homes Real Estate Tour Coming This Month

Lifestyle Publications is excited to be a media sponsor of the Best of Atlanta Homes real estate tour. This unique event is a guided experience of some of the best homes in Atlanta. The homes on the tour will feature a different characteristic or element of design that makes the home or property special. Guests will learn little known facts about the architectural design, building and interior design process, as well as the intricacies of buying and selling a home. And it’s not just about viewing spectacular homes. Smyrna Rotary Club Honors Rotarian of the Year

Smyrna Rotary Club recently awarded its most prestigious prize, Rotarian of the Year, to Cherry Gipson. Ms. Gipson worked diligently this past year in many Smyrna Rotary projects, such as donating dictionaries to local elementary students and providing skills and educational training at the Cobb Adult Education Center. She has also had a prestigious career outside of her Smyrna Rotary Club activities.

Born in New York City, Cherry Gipson lived in Memphis, TN before moving to Georgia in 1991. Ms. Gipson was involved in the field of alternative education for twenty-two years, and as an administrator for twenty of those years.

Dance Theatre of Harlem Returns 
to Atlanta

Returning to Atlanta for two public performances, Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) will grace the stage at the Cobb Energy Centre on Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. There will also be a student field trip performance on Friday, October 21 at 11 a.m. Reservations for this performance can be made at ArtsBridge.org.

Guests will be transfixed by the innovative programming that defines the breadth of classical ballet with performances of Return set to music by Aretha Franklin and James Brown by DTH resident choreographer Robert Garland and Spelman College’s Distinguished Visiting Scholar Dianne McIntyre’s Change. The Dance Theatre of Harlem will feature three new dancers in the touring troupe that makes it’s way to Atlanta. New dancers will include Kristy Lee Denoven, former soloist with the West Australian Ballet, Choong Hoon Lee, a powerful South Korean dancer trained at Korean National University of Arts, and joining after three seasons with Oregon Ballet Theater is Jordan Kindell.

3rd Annual Haunted House at Griffin Middle School Set to be a ‘Scary’ Good Time

For those looking for frighteningly good time this Halloween, there’s no need to drive far. Just head to Griffin Middle School to check out their 3rd annual Haunted House. Only open the weekend of October 21st, this Haunted House is good fun for the entire family and it helps to support children in our community. This annual event is a fundraiser for the Griffin Middle School Foundation, which is a non-profit organization formed for the sole purpose of raising funds beyond those currently provided by the Cobb County School District. It helps to fund elements of education such as technology enhancements, supplemental enriched curriculum, student services, additional faculty and capital improvements.
