Smyrna Rotary Club Welcomes New Leadership
Don Parkerson Jr. D.C. is the new president of Smyrna Rotary Club. In order to stay vibrant and maintain high levels of new ideas and new energy, the club changes leadership annually. Recently, Rotary District Governor Bob Hagan was on hand to praise the outbound leadership of Club President Narayan Sengupta and his board and to swear in the new Club President Don Parkerson, Jr. and his board.
Dr. Parkerson Jr. grew up in Eastman, Georgia and makes his home in Smyrna with his wife, Julie, and their children, Sadie and Micah. He is a Chiropractor with HP Spine Center in Smyrna.

Dirty Dancing Comes to Cobb Energy Centre
“Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage” is an unprecedented live experience, exploding with heartpounding music played live by an eight piece onstage band, passionate romance and sensational dancing. Seen by millions across the globe, this timeless love story features the hit songs “Hungry Eyes,” “Hey Baby,” “Do You Love Me?” and the heart-stopping “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.”
There are also a number of updates which will bring this musical to life for the audience. Eleanor Bergstein, screenwriter of the film Dirty Dancing and book writer for the production says she “added 20 new original scenes, 36 numbers of live music and an eight piece band onstage, to invite the audience to come into Kellerman’s and experience the story as a live event as it happens.”

‘Seniors Go’ Offers Door-To-Door Transportation
The Senior Citizen Council of Cobb County with Common Courtesy Rides is sponsoring door-to-door rides for members. This personal ride service picks up members from any location in Cobb County and takes them up to 15 miles for $2 per person per ride. There can be up to three people per car and there is a nominal charge for more than 15 miles. Riders are limited to two round trip rides per week and are scheduled on-demand.
Riders must be a member of the Senior Citizen Council of Cobb County. To become a member of the council, complete the application available at the front desk of each Cobb senior center or visit SeniorCitizenCouncilOfCobb.org/Membership.aspx and complete the application online. A single membership is $12 per year; household is $15.
Riders must also register by completing the Common Courtesy Rides application available at senior centers or online at CommonCourtesyRides.org. Click on the “Get a Ride” tab and complete the application. There is a one-time $10 registration fee and specify that chapter affiliation is COBB SENIOR CITIZEN COUNCIL MEMBER.
Each rider will be given a Rider ID which will be linked to their credit card or a PayPal account and be billed two times per month for rides used. Members should have cell phone or smartphone access. For non-smartphone riders, rides can be set up by calling 48 hours in advance.
