This month’s rising star student is Sean Kite-Powell, a 9th grader in the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Campbell High School. Sean, a product of Griffin Middle School and the International Academy of Smyrna charter school, is a great example of Smyrna’s public education system.
Sean is the epitome of being well-rounded. He plays soccer with Smyrna Soccer Club and also enjoys tennis, swimming, and go-kart racing. He has been active in Jr. Beta Club and has taken part in numerous volunteer activities in the Smyrna area. He has also participated in both orchestra and chorus, earning honors for both endeavors. Over the years he has been involved with Beta Club, Model UN, and the Quiz Bowl team.
Academically, Sean shines as well. From the Math Bowl to the National Geographic Bee to achieving all A’s for his entire middle school tenure, Sean certainly holds his own in the classroom.
Sean is studious and ambitious, and has been recognized as a leader by his peers. He has a passion for service and international travel and looks forward to putting those two things together on a future service trip to China with his AP Human Geography teacher Mr. Lynch and fellow IB students at Campbell High School.
Sean is adjusting well to the rigors of the International Baccalaureate program at Campbell and hopes to study engineering where ever his post-secondary plans take him. It’s a safe bet to guess they will take him far!
