Taste of 

Load up the fam and head to the 2017 Taste of Kennesaw from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 4, in downtown Kennesaw. Enjoy live music on two entertainment stages while you chow down on food samples from 30 different local restaurants with food samples from $1 to $4.

Restaurants will be competing for recognition in the following categories: best entrée, best dessert, best food presentation, best decorated tent and best appetizer.

Admission is free, and there will be activities for the kids including a rock wall, inflatables and slides and a trackless train.

Time your visit just right and you can see four local high school teams compete in a culinary throwdown for a share of scholarship money for their respective high schools. Competitions will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Shoppe Holiday Market

The third annual Shoppe Holiday Market kicks off November 10 and runs through November 12 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. This holiday market has it all—you can shop, take classes, find inspiration and even get personal styling. This is a great way to kick off the holiday season with three shops in one market: Shoppe Artisan, Shoppe Boutique and Holiday WorkSHOPPE.

Shoppe Artisan will feature handmade goods including crafts, fine art, home décor, fashion accessories, fine jewelry, apothecary and gourmet foods.

Shoppe Boutique will showcase more than 100 specialty stores and boutiques offering the finest in clothing, home décor, gifts and holiday items.

Holiday WorkSHOPPE will offer classes from cooking and entertaining to organizing and personal styling. The Pinterest-inspired classes will provide you everything you need to know to get ready for entertaining this holiday season.

2017 Atlanta Veterans Day Parade

The 36th Georgia Veterans Day Parade will take place from 11:11 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, in downtown Atlanta. This event is free and open to the public. The parade will start at SunTrust Plaza at Peachtree Street.

There will be a parade awards presentation at Pemberton Place following the parade. This year, we celebrate the WWI centennial.  The parade’s grand marshal will be James E. Livingston, a retired U.S. Marine Corps major general and a Medal of Honor recipient for heroic actions in 1968.

Parade entries will be judged in eight categories: president’s trophy, most patriotic, best military, best veteran, best band, best marching, best non-veteran and best ROTC unit. Awards will be announced and presented after the parade at Pemberton Place.

Starting at 6 p.m. on November 11 at the Georgia Aquarium, there will be a black-tie Freedom Ball with Livingston as the keynote speaker.

WellStar Health System Opens 
Third Health Park

The WellStar Vinings Health Park, a three-level, 162,000 square-foot facility, opened on Monday, September 11. It provides an array of outpatient services to residents of South Cobb, Smyrna and Vinings.

A health park brings outpatient and physician services directly to the community. Residents no longer will have to endure long drive times, frustrating traffic congestion and multiple trips to different facilities to access health services.

WellStar Vinings Health Park will bring 175 jobs to the community. In all, WellStar’s three health parks have brought 600 jobs to Cobb County.

Vinings Health Park will offer comprehensive diagnostic center, including imaging, women’s imaging, lab and pre-admission testing; urgent care center; cardiac diagnostics; sleep center; physical therapy and sports medicine; cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation; retail pharmacy; and a community education and wellness center.

WellStar Vinings Health Park is located at 4441 Atlanta Rd. SE, in Smyrna near Interstate 285 and Cumberland Parkway.
