WellStar Health System provides $648 Million
Did you know that 10 percent of WellStar’s patients do not have insurance? WellStar Health System, the largest not-for-profit health system in Georgia, provides care for uninsured patients regardless of their ability to pay. In 2017, WellStar provided more than $648 million in charity, unreimbursed care and community programs.
WellStar recently expanded in 2017 and grew to an 11-hospital system when WellStar Atlanta Medical Center, WellStar Atlanta Medical Center South, WellStar North Fulton Hospital, WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital, WellStar Sylvan Grove Hospital and WellStar West Georgia Medical Center joined the health system.
St. Patrick’s Day Events
On a day when “everybody is Irish,” why not snatch up those green beads, find some stylish green looks in your closet and get this 2018 St. Patrick’s Day party started?
Local favorite Smyrna Market Village will be hosting its 15th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival at Atkins Park and Zucca Pizzeria. Enjoy a weekend of family festivities from carnival games and rides to live music and drink specials. Tickets are $8 a day or $15 for both days. Kids under 13 are free, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training.
If you and the family are interested in heading to downtown Atlanta for the spectacular St. Patrick’s Day parade, you will not be disappointed. This parade is filled with family entertainment including clowns, floats, bands, bagpipe and drum corps, dancers, drill teams and more. The parade begins at noon in Midtown.
Runners and walkers looking to get a little exercise in before the festivities begin should check out the St. Patrick’s Day Parade 5K that starts and finishes on Peachtree Road. This beautiful course will take you through Midtown, Piedmont Park and the historic Peachtree Street. Post-race activities include a complimentary draft beer for finishers 21 and over, food specials from Colony Square restaurants and face painting for kids and adults.
American Craft Show
The Cobb Galleria Centre will be hosting the American Craft Show March 16-18. More than 230 top contemporary craft artists will display their latest handmade jewelry, clothing, furniture and home décor. Popular programs such as Make Room, Hip Pop, Let’s Make and Style Slam will be returning this year.
Hip Pop highlights talented artists new to the shop scene while Style Slam features professional fashion stylists demonstrating how statement pieces are a perfect fit for any fashionable wardrobe.
Make Room is the home décor exhibition featuring craft-inspired room vignettes and Let’s Make will feature demonstrations and opportunities for guests to participate in the actual process of creating artwork.
Tickets are $13, and the show runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 17 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18. Visit CraftCouncil.org for more information.
