Redesign and Staging by Must Have Home
A 1960s ranch renovation modernized for today’s ideal living. In general, this style of home presents the same challenges as it did in the ’60s: compartmentalized living spaces, small bathrooms and closets, limited storage space, and carports as opposed to a garage. The renovation at 436 Concord Road tackled each of these challenges in a unique and modern way.
To maximize curb appeal, we added a decorative fence around the front and side yard, highlighting the length of the lot and adding dimension to the landscape. To update the traditional brick exterior, we selected a light gray paint color to bring a fresh and clean look to the renovation. Enclosing the carport and adding stained wood columns to frame the new six light front door were the perfect finishing touches to bring the exterior of the outdated ranch into 2018.
When you walk through the front door, the eye immediately catches the shiplap feature wall and focal point of the redesigned home. By removing the ’60s-style wall separating the dining room from the den, open-concept living was created. Clean horizontal lines from the shiplap cover the entire back wall, meeting the tiled fireplace and reclaimed wood mantle that warm the dining area. The feature wall spans into the kitchen area, where a combination of open shelving and shaker cabinetry provides ample storage. Sherwin Williams paint colors Modern Gray and Bright White keep the great room bright and airy.
Achieving this look and feel required removing the wall that once separated the front dining room from the back den area. Converting the basement stairwell into an open half-wall gives the room a much larger feel, creating a nice flow between the two floors. Lacing in wood flooring to match the original floors and carrying them throughout the kitchen was the final element to pulling this renovation together.
