Monster Tree Service is a family-owned Smyrna business. Richard, owner of the Monster Tree Service Atlanta franchise location, was born in Suffern, N.Y., and grew up in Long Island, N.Y. Richard received his associate’s degree in computer engineering from SUNY Farmingdale.
During college, Richard worked at Michaels arts and crafts store in Commack, N.Y., and became the youngest assistant store manager in the company’s history. Leaving behind friends and family, Richard moved to Charlotte, N.C., at the age of 22 and decided to open an ice cream shop with two friends from Hauppauge, N.Y.
After a few years of operating the ice cream shop, Richard was looking for a fresh start and moved to the Vinings area in Atlanta, Ga. Initially, Richard started his career in corporate America. He first worked with Turner Broadcasting and then The Home Depot corporate office for 16 years. Richard managed the company’s Final Mile delivery program for the entire country during the last 10 years of his tenure there.
In 2017, Richard’s career path changed again. This time he began looking at franchise opportunities and officially launched Monster Tree Service of North Atlanta in February 2018.
How has your family inspired your professional work?
As a husband to Christina and father to two kids, Olivia (4) and Max (2), I always want to ensure that I provide my family with what is important. To me, the important stuff is quality time with the people I love. This business has allowed me the flexibility to not only take care of my family but give them the gift of quality time. It is also always fun when the entire family can participate in a work event, like the recent Smyrna Jonquil Festival.
